Steph “Littlebird” Fogel is an artist, writer, curator and registered member of Oregon’s Grand Ronde Confederated Tribes. Fogel earned her B.F.A. in Painting and Printmaking from the Pacific Northwest College in Portland, Oregon where she currently lives and works.
Fogel’s notoriously vibrant imagery combines the traditional totem styles of her Indigenous ancestors with contemporary illustration aesthetics. Her work frequently touches upon issues of contemporary tribal identity, cultural survivance, and ethical ecology.
Fogel has received three separate grants from the Art + Sci Initiative, and her work has been featured by the Oregon Bee Project, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (N.O.A.A.), the Environmental Protection Agency (E.P.A.) and the United States Postal Service.
